Marinette County approves funds to support City of Marinette Airboat after reconsideration

Last thirty day period the Marinette County Board of supervisors accredited contributing $43,900 to the City of Marinette towards the obtain of a new 24 ft search and rescue airboat with the caveat that the county be capable to use the airboat. Even so, at yesterday’s County Board conference a movement was brought forth by Supervisor Allen to rethink motion taken by the County board to transfer the $43,900 to the City of Marinette for purchase of the Airboat. Given that the Town of Marinette has not long ago allocated $500 for each employee for COVID-19 vaccinations working with ARPA funds when they could have employed their ARPA cash in direction of the funding of the airboat as an alternative of inquiring the County for funding. County Administrator John Lefebvre says, “the Metropolis of Marinette got $1.1 million in ARPA funding.”

Supervisor Ken Keller claims, “there is a rationale why the town is wanting for participation in the acquiring of the airboat.”

Immediately after a lengthy discussion, the board voted, and it came in at 14 in favor of the airboat to 13 not in favor.  The expected supply date of the airboat is mid-January.
